Chérie’s Debut at the Szeged Wine Festival – Káldi Wine’s First Participation

May 15–25, 2025 – Where Wine Meets Community

The Szeged Wine Festival took place between May 15 and 25, 2025, as part of the Szeged City Day Celebrations – one of Hungary’s largest gastronomic and cultural events, attracting tens of thousands of visitors each year. The festival venues included Széchenyi SquareKlauzál SquareDugonics SquareDóm Square, and the Belvárosi Bridge and Híd Street.

Over the years, the Szeged Wine Festival has grown from a modest, two-day event into an eleven-day celebration, featuring gourmet food courts, regional wine showcases, wine competitions, and a vibrant concert program – from jazz and folk to blues.

A Tradition of Quality and Culture

The origins of the festival date back to 1995, when it was first held at the Mars Square market with about 50 stands. It soon moved to Széchenyi Square and gradually expanded into a wine promenade stretching across the city center. Today, it is a true tradition of Szeged, embodying the spirit, culture, and community life of the city in springtime.

Chérie (Green Veltliner 2024) – A Highlight of the Festival

For Káldi Wine, the 2025 festival marked a very special moment: our debut in Szeged. We introduced our latest wine, the 2024 Chérie Green Veltliner, which quickly became a crowd favorite.

Despite some rainy days during the event, our stand remained busy throughout. Visitors were drawn to Chérie’s complex aromas, crisp acidity, and well-balanced structure – qualities that reflect our commitment to crafting expressive, elegant wines.

Sophie 2021 – Gold Medal Winner at the Wine Competition

An additional highlight of the festival was the success of our Sophie 2021. In the wine competition held as part of the event, Sophie 2021 was awarded a gold medal, a testament to the outstanding quality of our wines and the dedication of our winemaking team.
