An Invitation to the Iván Valley Kadarka Tour
On June 21, 2025, we had the honour of participating as a guest winery in the Iván Valley Kadarka Tour, an event that celebrates one of Szekszárd’s most iconic grape varieties. Each permanent host of the tour invites a guest winery, and this year, the Heimann family extended their invitation to us – Káldi Wine.
This unique wine event brought together passionate wine lovers from across Hungary and beyond, all eager to explore the versatility and character of Kadarka. The atmosphere in Iván Valley was filled with the hum of conversation, the laughter of friends, and the clinking of glasses.
Presenting Our Wines: Kadarek 2021 and Chérie 2024
As the owner and winemaker of Káldi Wine, I – Gergő Káldi – had the pleasure of introducing two of our carefully crafted wines:
- Kadarek 2021 – a refined, elegant Kadarka with delicate spice, and tertiary aromas.
- Chérie 2024 – a fresh, crisp Zöld Veltelini (Grüner Veltliner) with lively acidity, citrus aromas, and a clean, mineral finish.
Visitors were drawn to our tasting table throughout the day, curious to discover the stories behind each bottle. The Kadarek impressed with its subtle complexity, while the Chérie charmed with its refreshing energy – proving that different styles can shine equally in the right moment.
Gastronomy Meets Winemaking
The Heimann kitchen added a delicious layer to the event’s experience. Petra Tischler prepared a special dish, crafted specifically to complement Kadarka wines:
Tender pork neck, Kadarka-infused plum cream, roasted potato purée, and kombucha cabbage salad.
This creation was more than just food – it was a perfect harmony of flavours, where the sweet depth of the plum cream met the freshness of the salad, while the succulent pork found its ideal partner in the spice and structure of Kadarka.
A Day of Encounters and Inspiration
One of the highlights of the Kadarka Tour is the opportunity to connect directly with wine lovers, fellow winemakers, and gastronomes. For us, it was a day of:
- Meaningful conversations with guests who share a deep love for wine.
- Mutual learning from fellow professionals and enthusiasts.
- Celebrating heritage through the lens of a grape variety that has shaped our region’s identity.
The friendly, open atmosphere made it easy for people to linger, taste, and talk – and for us, every shared moment was as important as every poured glass.
Gratitude and Lasting Memories
Standing side by side with the Heimann family, in the heart of their estate, was both a professional milestone and a personal joy. We returned home with the warmth of their hospitality in our hearts and the knowledge that our wines had left a mark on this year’s Iván Valley Kadarka Tour.
We are deeply grateful for the invitation and for the chance to share Kadarek 2021 and Chérie 2024 with such an engaged audience. Events like this remind us why we make wine: to create connections, celebrate tradition, and bring people together over something beautiful in a glass.
